Chalk Bar & Grill Re-launch – Didsbury

Last Thursday evening I went to Didsbury. I haven’t been to Didsbury for quite a few years and whilst it’s always been a hub for bars and pubs that I frequented in my student days, I always felt it was missing a really good cocktail bar.

Enter Chalk Bar & Grill – recently refurbished and now being run by MAD Ltd, the team behind several other Manchester drinking establishments such as Rosylee, Tusk, Walrus, The Fitzgerald and Hula.

We were lucky enough to be invited along to their re-launch party so sampled some delicious cocktails, nibbles and delightful surroundings.

Firstly we tried out the Peach Punch Mojito and the Acai Cosmopolitan. Both are included on Chalk’s “twisted classics” cocktail menu, your favourite cocktails, modernised and served with a cheeky Chalk twist. The Peach Punch Mojito was mightily refreshing and the sharp tasting Cosmo disappeared down the hatch almost immediately!

Next up were the most prettiest cocktails of the evening, The Siberian Margarita, I could have quite honestly drunk these all night. I’m quite the tequila fiend and the Siberian was the perfect mix of El Jimador, Blue Curacao and lime juice. Garnished with red salt and a pretty rose petal.

Then onto the Singapore Sunset, a re-vamped version of the classic Singapore Sling. Filled with Beefeater Gin, Cherry Heering, Grand Marnier, Dom Benedictine, pineapple juice, lime juice and San Pellegrino blood orange – a very fruity little number.

We then tried some of the lovely nibbles on offer, from Chalk’s refreshed food menu. All ingredients on the new menu are sourced locally with many dishes focussed around the grill, you can view the new menus here >> http://www.chalkbar.co.uk/menus/

As you can see it all got snapped up pretty quickly

We then moved onto the Gin Copas, which had a large measure of gin, garnished with fruits and botanicals and lengthened with a premium tonic. The perfect accompaniment to a muggy Summer’s evening.

A huge thanks to Chalk for inviting us down to their re-launch and thanks to all the lovely staff for taking such good care of us. If you find yourself in Didsbury and fancy a great cocktail, you now know where to go!
