Review: Morley’s – Hale

At the moment South Manchester is absolutely buzzing with great independent restaurants, bars and cafes. I feel like sometimes we’re just too spoilt for choice! With the food and drink scene booming in places like Chorlton, West Didsbury and Altrincham, I was excited to receive an invitation from Morley’s of Hale to an exclusive blogger event with the WeBlogNorth crew. I’d never been to Hale before and was excited to see what was in store, travelling just that little bit further a field than what I would usually do.

The Blue Pig – Manchester

A couple of weeks ago, we were invited down to much loved Northern Quarter haunt, The Blue Pig, to try out a taster menu. It had been specially put together to showcase their re-launch and brand new menu! To say I was excited was quite the understatement. So let’s get right into it.

Brunch – Tea Hive, Chorlton

It’s always a pleasure to pop into Chorlton on a bright Sunday morning and spend a few lazy hours sat outside Tea Hive watching the world go by.

I’m a big fan of sushi – so when I heard on the Chorlton grapevine that a new Japenese Sushi Bar had opened just up the road, I was over there before you could say sashimi. Unfortunately on my 1st visit, I forgot my camera. But my 2nd visit was very well documented

Indy Man Beer Con 2015

I’d never been to the Independent Manchester Beer Convention (Indy Man Beer Con/IMBC) before which is now in it’s 4th year. So on a breezy Sunday afternoon we cycled over from Chorlton to the beautiful Victoria Baths in Victoria Park for this year’s event.

Visiting Bergen

We embarked onto our train at Oslo station and settled in for a long journey across the width of Norway to our next destination – Bergen. The train journey was incredible with some spectacular views as is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful train journeys you can take in Europe. Sadly our camera battery was running desperately low but I managed to catch this snap on my phone.

Exploring Oslo

After a few days blissful days in the countryside we decided to make the 45 minute bus journey from the cabin in Enebakk to Oslo. We’d been told about the Oslo Pass by our host Thove. It’s a great money-saving way to see all the sights Oslo has to offer and includes free entry to many of Oslo’s museums and attractions. You can Oslo (also) get discounts on selected restaurants and cafes and free public transport throughout the city and beyond!

The Lonely Ski Lodge

The following morning, making the most of the warm weather, we decided to explore the forest surrounding our cabin. We took off up the old ski run and followed the winding path through thick woodland.

Norway Lake Life

Having had a restful nights sleep in our cosy cabin in the woods,  we decided to take up our brilliant host Thove’s offer of hiring bicycles for the day. She gave us a real good deal and it only cost £35 each for the 1st day and £5 more for any other days we wanted to make use of the bikes.
